Vidding: Last week I was sick and got the whole week off, which I used to make a vid for Sparkle Motion. From conception of the idea to finishing the vid it took me exactly 4 days, which has got to be close to the fastest I've ever vidded something, and it was a pretty awesome experience. I literally did nothing but vid, eat and sleep during that time (actually I did go see Birds of Prey, which was great, but that was the only deviation.) This sort of vidding frenzy thing seems to happen to me only very rarely (last time was in September 2018 when I made New Born), but when it happens it's pretty much the best feeling I know. The only downside is that afterwards my brain seems to get completely depleted of dopamine for a few days and that's always hell, but I'm getting over that slump now thankfully. I don't think I'll be making Vid Big Bang though, since the deadline is this weekend and I don't even have 10% of a vid. But I might keep working on it and save it for next year!

MBMBaM
: Another fun thing I've been doing is descending fully into a worryingly intense McElroy obsession, which I partly blame on [personal profile] such_heights for requesting the MBMBaM TV Show for festivids and starting me down this path, and also partly on [personal profile] teyla for enabling me every step of the way, but mostly on myself for my inability to be chill about like, anything ever in my life. Just today I decided that it would be a great idea to start listening to the entire MBMBaM backlog. Yes, starting from episode 1, which everyone including the boys themselves have informed me is a bad idea. And hoo boy, it really is rough! But in a way it's inspiring to know that these 3 douchebags from 10 years ago transformed into the genuinely decent and sweet people they are today. Maybe there's hope for men? At least that's what I'm taking away from it. And, you know, apparently I only need to make it through the first 100 episodes and then it gets better! (oof)

Birds of Prey: What an amazing romp of a movie! I'm so glad I got dragged into it, because I'm not much of a DC person and might not have seen it otherwise (although with the reception it's been getting I would have probably gotten around to it). I very much enjoy seeing a woman be allowed to fight dirty and be nasty as hell in an R-rated movie, it's incredibly cathartic to me. I will say that while I enjoyed Ewan McGregor's and Chris Messina's performances (and what great casting that is) I wasn't entirely comfortable with the evil-queer tropiness of their characters, which did bring down my enthusiasm for the movie a bit. But still, I really liked it and am very glad it exists! Can't wait to see everyone's vids for it.
