Why did I decide to make this vid one week before the VidUKon deadline, when I was already working on Two Trucks, a similarly horny, similarly comical vid (which incidentally also features a sequence of someone mashing action figures together in the middle of it - a parallel I only noticed after the fact.) Kind of redundant, right? I've been thinking about this, and the answer is pretty clear:
When I was thinking about making a second Premiere, I took a long look at my current Vid Idea List and what I saw was a whole lot of depressing, dark, and angry. This was around the time the pandemic had just started going into full swing where I live and the possibility of a virtual con was being floated. I was certainly feeling pretty down. Nevertheless, the thought of submitting a dark vid quickly became unbearable to me, so I decided to go with the one lighthearted option I had instead.
As it turns out, that ended up being a pretty common theme of this con. And I was very grateful for that. I definitely want to make some space to let out my darker feelings as well, but for the purpose of coming together, I am happy that we all chose to be a little extra joyful this year.
