I've been kinda vidding as if the world was ending, huh. Wonder why that is.
Favorite video this year (of my own)
Definitely Run! I FINALLY got to make the Hamilton vid I thought up in 2016 and I'm so so happy with it.
Least favorite video
I really hate even picking something for this, I love them all. I guess I will pick Mahna, Mahna, which was a very last minute treat that I made right before Festivids reveals, so I think the editing in it is not up to my usual standards. Still really love it though, and it was super fun to make. What a weird show.
Most successful video
Justin McElroy retweeted my Starships Monster Factory vid, which was pretty cool and led to a lot of really nice youtube comments. I always go back and forth on whether I want to tweet my vids at the creators of the source, but in this case I'm glad I did it and that he liked it.
Video most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion
I really can't complain.
Most fun video
This is a tough one. This is the first year I did collabs and they were all super fun to make. Two Trucks was a blast, obviously, and Tik Tok was also great. For solo projects, Starships is probably the most fun I've had vidding anything, even though (or maybe especially because?) I was kind of delirious the entire time.
Video with the single sexiest moment
Oh boy, it's been quite a horny year in vidding for me, as I'm sure everyone's aware. I'm gonna be real here and pick the moment in Two Trucks when Optimus Prime picks up Megatron, gently transforms him into a gun and then inserts some sort of vial (??) into the gun, because I audibly gasped when I first found that clip and I haven't recovered since. What the hell, honestly. I even turned it into a gif:

Biggest vid fail
I think I sent about 4 different "finished" versions of the Deadpool vid to Vidukon, using increasingly apologetic file names. And then I still changed it again after the deadline. Oh well.
Hardest video to make
Two Trucks, by far. Finding all the sources alone was a nightmare, and clipping them took ages even with two people. Marrying the visual effects garbage of the Michael Bay movies together with the Gen 1 low-budget low-def jerky cartoon animation was also very challenging.
Most unintentionally telling video
The fact that I finished Guardian and the first thing I immediately came up with was a Taylor Swift Ye Zun vid says pretty much everything about me and my priorities.
Things I learned this year
I came up with a better clipping process in Vegas together with teyla and it has improved my vidding experience quite a bit! I've also been making some vids without clipping, which doesn't work for every source, but when it works it's the best.
Also I would say that I learned to let myself make whatever weird shit I want regardless of whether I think anyone else will like it. Feels pretty good.
My vidding goals from last year
Last year I wrote:
"I want to make a multifandom vid; I want to try collaborating and I want to go back and remaster the first vid I made, which is not on the internet anymore currently. More generally I'm really hoping that I can keep up this level of productivity because it's been a really nice."
I actually did all of those things! Yay! (The multifandom vid is one that I haven't posted yet but it is basically finished.)
Goals for 2021
I want to go back to some of the bigger projects that have been on the backburner for a while. I also want to experiment with my editing style more and maybe try some slower-paced stuff.
